Character Quote:

"Oh Mrs Russell, I can't drink a green cocktail!"

The wonderful Doris Luke enjoyed her work at Crossroads and her interests include the well-being of those she is responsible for. Not a very outgoing lady, her nights off revolved around peak-time television. At one stage she turned down a chat with her new manfriend Authur to watch Inspector Morse! She adores Scott Booth and regularly acted as his babysitter when Jake and Tracey aren't around. Scott himself sees her as a surrogate mother.

Doris was the Head of Laundry, but has now retired from work at the hotel. She chose the opportunity to announce her retirement at Bradley's leaving party and it was lost in the news of Mandy's car accident outside.

In recent months, Doris had begun working part-time at the hotel and had also been charmed by Arthur, a local pianist who saw her one night at a cocktail evening. He later proposed for her hand in marriage, a proposal she sadly turned down.

Doris Luke is a kind sensitive lady who has worked at the hotel on a previous occasion. She seeks promotion and enjoys her work and sees potential in everybody and will work with them to get them there if need be in her own spare unpaid time. She adores her nephew Bradley and the company of Scott Booth in his spare time. Well, until he burnt himself on her iron anyway.

Doris left Crossroads in 1984 but returned in 1998 after the unfortunate death of her sister. She is unhappy at the fact that she never married or found a love in her life but it looks like the gap could have been filled by Arthur if only she hadn't had turned his proposal down!

She kept saying that Bradley would make a wonderful father until he told her about his sexuality. Up to then she thought he and Tom were very good friends! The news that her nephew was gay upset her for a few days but she told him that if he was happy with how he felt about himself and Tom, then she was happy as well.
