Character Quote:

"What must your son think when he sees that his mother can't stop drinking?"

Jake aspires to be a business person and wants to be the next Richard Branson but you couldn't do much with a 25% share which was later withdrawn in Patrick's will. He also has to clean up after his wife Tracey who has a drink problem which she won't admit to. His initial love interest included 'Sarah-Jane' who later turned out to be Louise Dixon, an imposter.

He loves his son Scott but in the past has let the boy down time and time again. This came to a head when he pulled out of a family trip to Paris in May 2001 and Scott said that he thought that Jake didn't love him. In recent episodes Jake has been a bit pocessive in his methods to win sole custody of Scott who can see right through it all.

Arguments are a key issue in the Booth Family. It is Jake who starts most of the arguments and when they breaks out, the entire hotel can hear it. In recent months he's showed more interest in Scott with a view to winning custody but on the way has been slapped, taunted and has also hit his head off a shelf. All these arguments and shouting have had an effect on his son who has witnessed far too many of them.

When Victor Barnes arrived at the hotel, Jake worked with him not realising that he was his father. Kate refused to do business with Victor (read: Roger) and then accidentally told Jake about Vic's real relation to him when she thought her son was talking about why she wouldn't sign the business deal. Although Jake was invited to Boston with Vic and his family, this was withdrawn when Vic found out that Jake slept with one of his daughters and threw him out.

While he may seem to be driven entirely by the hotel (at least from his son's point of view), Jake is on the hunt to take over the hotel. He's ruthless and will get there eventually, shunning everything in the way to get it. Has slept with the fake 'Sarah-Jane Harvey' behind Tracey's back even going so far as to get rid of her and Scott for the weekend to be with 'Sarah-Jane'!

He hit the roof when he learnt that Tracey had slapped Scott and vowed to leave immediately, taking his son with him. His argument with Tracey over the issue (which resulted in knocking himself out on Scott's bedroom shelf) was witnessed in full by his son who later put paid to all attempts of moving out.

Jake was livid when everybody else received inheritants from Patrick when he received nothing. His marriage to Tracey of 13yrs has gone rock bottom to the point of being married by name. He had to marry Tracey after getting her pregnant in 1988, a marriage that was rockier than the Himalayas.

While he states that he doesn't care who Tracey has affairs with, he can't help but stir things up to the point of ruining them. He has attempted to ruin Tracey's relationship with Mike Kitson but didn't need to when Mike wanted to break it off anyway.

Plays for Crossroads FC as a striker. It was he who started the Crossroads Motivational Star Scheme which was unpopular and soon withdrawn and saw Jake on the workforce for a few days!
