Tom inherited the King's Oak cafe after the death of his parents Alex and Helen in 1999. He took on the responsibility of his brother Daniel and began a relationship with Bradley. Sadly, Tom was the victim of a homophobic attack that paralysed him with fear and put excessive stress on his relationship with Bradley. Daniel Curtis

12-year-old Daniel was still in mourning over the loss of his parents, but his brother seemed indifferent to the boy's feelings. However his aunt Sylvia and uncle Bob were suitable surrogates in his mind. Daniel's best friend in King's Oak remains Scott Booth, although the latter never appeared to fully recover from his best friend's departure to Manchester with his older brother. Bradley Clarke

The handyman at Crossroads was in a relationship with the King's Oak cafe owner, but after the homophobic attack on Tom the relationship was stretched to breaking point and beyond. Tracey Booth seized the opportunity and managed to bed him, an action which drove Tom away. Bradley did, however, rekindle the romance some time later and he and Tom went off to Manchester. Louise Dixon

Louise convincingly passed off the fact that she was the daughter of Jill Harvey. She also seemed intent on getting more control over the hotel until an investigation commissioned by Patrick after his first heart attack revealed that she was not who they thought she was. It did not stop Mark asking for her hand in marriage though, nor did it stop her standing him up at the altar in exchange for £100,000. She fled to London and could not be traced. Patrick Russell

Patrick bought the initial shares in the hotel in 1998 and the position of Catering Manager which gave Kate the spotlight as the General Manager. He learnt that his other half of 22 years was having an affair with Billy, the knowledge of which triggered a fatal heart attack according to Nicola. Jill Harvey

One of only three characters from the original motel, Jill had a 30% share in the hotel. Adam married her for her share, but she saw through this and ran away, upset. The next time she was seen was face down in a nearby lake, having been murdered by Adam. Actress Name: Jane Rossington |
Adam Chance

Adam was up to his eyeballs in debt. He owned £80k at one stage and was unable to pay it off so the way out was to "get closer to Jill" by sacrificing himself and Sarah in a church crypt. She escaped unharmed but his body was never found after the blaze... Actor Name: Tony Adams |
Doris Luke

Housekeeper of Crossroads, Doris originally left in
1984 but returned to work in 1998 after the death of her
sister. She had a nephew called Bradley who she doted on
but was a wonderful surrogate mother to Scott Booth. In
2002 she found Arthur but turned down his proposal of
marriage. After that she retired from the hotel at the
age of 62 having seen her nephew rekindle his

Kully Gill

Kully was a chambermaid and had the amazing ability
to disappear for months on end with nobody else noticing.
In an attempt to gain promotion she applied for a
position on Reception but the job went to Beena who went
out of her way to impress Jake on how sexy she looked.
Disgusted with such a decision, Kully quit her position

Mandy Dobbs

Mandy finally realised her dream scenario - getting
married to Ray. However she was pregnant by Billy and was
six months gone by the time the marriage came round. Her
baby Holly was delivered by Des but Mandy was later hit by a car. Although she
survived that, a brain haemorrage killed her instead as a
result of the accident. She only told Billy that Holly
was his on her deathbed, and was found by her parents

Chloe Simms

Best friends with Nicola, Chloe worked at the King's Oak Cafe but found it hard to agree with the direction Dave was taking the cafe in. Finally quit the job and left the country to start a new life and job in Tenerife as a tour rep. Actress Name: Rhea Bailey |
