Previously on Crossroads-
-Honey started work and clashed with Virginia
-Angel had another strange dream. Max was worried about her and confided in Kate.
-Billy returned to Kings Oak with Holly.
"Billy..." Kate whispered with a look of surprise on her face. "The one and only!" he laughed. "Hasn't Holly grown so much since you last saw her?" "Urm...yes-yes she has" Kate said with a forced smile. "Dave and Oona have just been telling me about the pub being sold, it's a shame isn't it?" "Of course" she replied. There was a tense nervousness between the two former lovers. "Well I've got things to do, I'll be in my room" said Kate as she hurried off down the hallway and closed the door behind her. "What is she doing in there?" asked Billy. "Shouldn't she be at the hotel?" "Well I think you better ask her about that" replied Oona. "I'll take Holly, you go and have a chat with Kate" "Thanks" said Billy. He went and knocked on Kate's door. She opened it and looked at him for a second. "Come in" she said, and closed the door. "What are you doing here Kate, I thought you had a place at the hotel?" asked Billy as he sat down on the bed. Kate gave a slight laugh, but there was no humour in it, just bitter reflection. "You mean Dave and Oona didn't tell you?" she said, dripping with sarcasm. "I live here now" "Here?" Billy said with surprise. He looked around the cramped room, the damp patches on the walls and the old, mismatched furniture. "What happened to the hotel?" he asked. "A lot of things have changed since you've been gone" she said. "Like what?" he persisted. "I think you better come and see for yourself" said Kate as she picked up her coat.
Back at the hotel Max still hammers on the door to Angel's room. "Angel honey, please, let's talk about this." said Max to the door. Angel was sprawled on her circular bed. "Why don't you go and talk to Kate about it, that is after all what you seem to do best at the moment" she retorted. "I only spoke to Kate because I was worried about you, nothing else. I've told you there's nothing going on between me and her anymore" he pleaded. "That isn't the point!" Angel screamed. "I don't want our personal business spread around this hotel". "Ok, ok I won't say anything else to Kate. Or anyone. Alright?" he said. "Oh yes, make false promises like you always do. Just like in that dream. HE was charming, but underneath just a cheating liar. Last night he was there too. Wearing a mask. I couldn't see his face...." Angel started to babble. "What are you talking about Angel?" Max asked. "My dreams...he wouldn't tell me where she was...he kept lying...I just wanted to..." Angel trailed off into mutters. "Angel please, let me help you!" said Max. "Angel!" She was once again sobbing uncontrollably and Max decided to go and find Betty.
Honey was in reception having some trouble with the computer. "Damn thing!" she said. Virginia strolled up to her with a patronizing expression on her face. "What appears to be the problem Miss Raymond?" she asked. "I don't seem to be able to save these online booking forms" Honey replied. A bitchy smile crossed Virginia's face. "My dear it's quite simple, oh, but then I have many years of experience in the hotel industry" she said with a condescending laugh. She corrected the problem and then said "There we go dear. You'll soon get the hang of it, I'm sure" Honey could hardly control her rage. "Yeah and you'll soon get the hang of a vase over your head if you're not careful" she mumbled to herself. "Excuse me?" said Virginia, looking down her glasses at Honey. "I just said I'm sure I will get the hang of it eventually" said Honey with an innocent expression on her face. Virginia was frowning when the phone rang, and she picked it up. Betty walked over to the desk and whispered to Honey; "Don't worry dear, her bark's worse than her bite" "Thanks" replied Honey. Just then the lift doors opened and Max stepped out. "Betty" he called out as he crossed the reception. "Yes Max?" she replied. "I need to talk to you, it's kinda delicate so can we talk in my office?" he asked. "Of course" said Betty, and they headed towards his office.
Kate and Billy were stood outside the hotel. "Good Lord" he said, regarding the new logo and the fountain. "It's so different, so...tacky" "You haven't seen inside yet" replied Kate. "Let's go in then" he said, and they walked towards the entrance. In Max's office Betty and Max are sat down. "What's the problem then?" asked Betty. "It's Angel" he replied. "It's always about Angel isn't it! She had another one of those dreams yesterday" said Betty. "How do you know?" asked Max "I was there when she woke up from it" said Betty. "She seemed in a bit of a state" "Well now she's locked herself in her room and won't come out. And she's..." "What?" asked Betty. "She's talking nonsense. About dreams she's had. Something about a man in a mask- it doesn't make any sense" Max said despairingly. "Would you like me to have a word with her, see if I can help?" asked Betty. "That would be great" replied Max.
Kate and Billy walked through the sliding doors. "Oh my-" said Billy, clearly shocked. "You thought the outside was bad, well this is unrecognisable" said Kate. "You bet it is" said Billy. " And what's happened to the restaurant?" "I know, I know. Well the bar is still in the same place at least. Let me buy you a drink." said Kate with a smile. "I think I'm going to need it to get over the shock" he replied. Kate laughed and looked up and Billy. He looked into her eyes. For a moment it seemed like old times. "Come on" said Kate "Let's get that drink"
Betty got into the lift and pressed the button for the first floor. She hoped Angel would be ok. By the way that Max was talking, she sounded like a bit of a case. The lift stopped and Betty stepped out. She walked along the corridor. Everything was silent. She slid her door card into the door and it opened with a click. She walked across the living room and knocked on Angel's door. "Angel? Are you in there?" Angel didn't answer so she opened the door and went in. She was lying on the bed with her eyes shut. Betty thought she must be asleep, and went to put a blanket over her. It was then she noticed an empty bottle of pills lying next to Angel. "Oh Angel...you haven't...oh God no!"
