"Previously on Crossroads"
... Angel tells Max that Sister Grace has helped her a lot, so much in fact she's coming to the hotel."...
... "Billy tells Kate his plan; Dave and Oona want him to buy into the pub and turn it into a restaurant but he's got new plans. Buy it all himself."
"Max tries to kiss her again and Kate lingers for a second. A crack in the door is shown and Billy is standing in the hallway looking through, disgusted he goes downstairs."...
... "Ethan arrives at Sister Grace's cottage. She is shocked to see him. "You told me she'd be gone by the afternoon" Ethan says."...
Oona comes downstairs. "Here comes Granny" says Dave to Holly. "What did you call me Dave Stocks?" says Oona, sounding shocked. "Granny" "Thanks Dave! You make me sound about eighty!" "Well you are her granny aren't you? What do you want her to call you?" asks Dave, slightly taken aback by his wife's attitude. "She can call me `Oona' like everyone else." "Oh you're really entering in to the grandparental spirit there Oona." "Oh and I suppose you're letting her call you `Gramps' then Dave?" "I'm her Grandpa aren't I darling?" says Dave going all gooey to his granddaughter. Oona smiles at them both. "You're going soft in your old age `Grandpa" she jokes. "You were never like this with our Mandy." Footsteps are heard coming down the stairs "You where hardly ever there." She says under her breath. Dave hears her but ignores her. Billy has come downstairs. "Hello darling" he says to his daughter and she smiles at him as he picks her up. "You two look like you were having merry old time." "All this Grandpa stuff is going to his head I reckon" jokes Oona, Dave frowns at her. "Here Billy, you haven't had any time to think about going in with us for the pub have you." Billy hesitates for a second "Ah not yet. As a matter of fact I'm on the way to the bank now to look into my finances. Should have an answer for you today or tomorrow" he smiles. Dave and Oona exchange hopeful glances. "You two are alright looking after Holly while I nip into Heathbury aren't you?" "Of course" Dave smiles. "Right I'll see you later then." Billy leaves as more footsteps are heard on the stairs. "That sounds good doesn't it Dave?" "Yeah, well he's family now isn't he Oona. I knew he'd be there for us when it counts. Hiya Kate. You look nice." "Oh thanks" Kate smiles. "Yes you do Kate." Says Oona, "New blouse is it?" "Erm yeah, I brought this months ago but have hardly worn it." "It suits you you know. Hey if it's Billy your hoping to impress he's just left. Might catch him before he jets away on that bike thingy." Kate looks slightly awkward. "No, I'm late for work as it is." The motorbike can be heard zooming away "Where's he off to?" "Hey, he's gone to the bank to sort out his finances for the pub. Reckon he'll have an offer for us by this afternoon. It's looking hopefully isn't it Dave?" "Certainly is. Looks like we might not be out on our ears after all." Kate looks as if she's about to tell them the truth but something makes her think against it. "Well I'll see you later then."
All the Samsons except Max are seated round the Breakfast table. Angel is trying to act as if nothing has happened, but she is still slightly edgy. Ryan is angry with his mother for disappearing and demands to know where she's gone. Betty tries to keep the peace but Angel tells her it's alright. She explains that there's been some problems between her and Max but that they are going to work through them.
Jimmy Cleo and Ryan all go and Betty asks Angel if everything is really alright. She says it is. Max comes out of the bedroom hungover and bad tempered. Angel tries to make it up to him but he is obviously very angry with her.
Virginia tells Rocky about Helen disappearing yesterday. He is sympathetic and reassures her that Helen's probably only upset because of her grandma and the two of them will make it up tomorrow. Vince arrives and tells them that Helen rang him and she's ok and that he's meeting her in the pub tomorrow in the evening and invites them both along. Virginia is unsure but Rocky accepts for both of them.
Kate is in the office and Angel walks in. Kate tries to apologise but Angel insists there is no need. She apologises for her behaviour last week but then adds darkly that if she ever did find out something was going on between her and Max again, there would be hell to pay for both of them. Kate promises her that it will never happen again and she really wants her and Angel to be friends again, she talks about the importance of friends and realises something.
Vince rushes off because he sees Scott but Scott quickly disappears. Tracey asks him what he wanted Scott for and Vince lies and says that he spoke to Rio on the phone and she asked after him. Tracey goes on about how Scott and Rio would make such a good couple and Vince doesn't say much and smiles.
Dave and Oona are working in the pub at lunchtime and Kate comes to see them. They are still excited because they think that Billy is going to buy the pub with them but Kate tells them the truth; Billy is going to make an offer to Ethan Black and buy all the pub for himself. Dave and Oona are shocked, Oona wants to give it all up but Dave is determined and says that he will sort this out; he isn't going to let Billy get his own way over them!
Max is in his office feeling a bit hungover still. Angel comes to see him. She tells him that she's made up with Kate. Max is surprised. He expected Kate to tell Angel about last night but Angel doesn't know. Angel tells Max that he is the most important thing in her life, him and her family and she doesn't want to loose him. She apologises for her behaviour and assures him her dreams are over. They kiss. Angel tells Max she wants the family to be happy and close like they used to be. She decides to arrange a family meal that evening.
The pub in the evening. Dave has just been on the phone. Oona is standing behind the bar and Kate is waiting on the other side. Dave comes over to them. "We got it!" Oona hugs him as he laughs and Kate congratulates them both. "Oh Dave that's brilliant. But how are we going to afford it?" "Hey don't you worry about that Oona! Ethan's given us a week to find the money. I'm sure we'll sort it out somehow." "I wish I shared your confidence Dave." "Listen, I'm owed a few favours here and there.." "Oh great, so we're going to rely on your dodgy mates to afford the pub of our dreams! Great!" "Who said anything about dodgy?" "When it comes to you Dave Stocks everything's dodgy!" "Hey come on you two." Says Kate. "I thought you said you could more or less afford this? "Well yeah, more or less." "That's not enough though is it Dave" says Oona, starting to sulk. Dave hugs her "Listen to me Oona Stocks "We could have been out on our ears if Ethan had accepted Billy's offer but he hasn't. And this is our chance Oona. I promise you in a weeks time we will own this place and you my dear will be the Queen of Kings Oak!" "Oh Dave, you big softie. I don't know why but I trust you. I only hope you're right." "Of course I am, here let's get this champagne popped open to prove it!" Dave Oona and Kate are in the middle of a toast when Billy walks in. "Celebrating something?" "Too right we are" Dave speaks up. "Celebrating us triumphing over the likes of you that's what. And I'll tell you something else, tomorrow morning you can pack your bags because Holly or no Holly you're not staying in *our* pub any longer than you have to." "It'd be my pleasure. If you think I'd want to stay in your poxy little pub any longer than I have to your quite mistaken." And he storms upstairs to get his stuff. Oona: "Honestly, some people they just can't share in other's good luck." Kate has started to follow Billy out of the door. "Where are you going Kate?" "To talk to Billy." "Why? That scoundrel would have had us begging in the streets if he'd got his own way." "Yeah, I just thinks he deserves and explanation that's all." Dave and Oona shrug and down some more champagne as Kate goes upstairs.
Billy is packing in his room. Holly is on the bed. Kate stands in the doorway. "Oh here she is. What's up Kate? Found a conscience all of a sudden" "I beg your pardon, you where the one who wanted Dave and Oona to loose their livelihood and their home." "I'd have given them a job Kate and somewhere to stay for a while. Do you really think I'm that heartless?" "It's not enough though Billy; this is their business. They've built their dreams on making this place a success. You couldn't just take it away from them." "That is the nature of business I'm afraid Kate. Now I understand why you lost yours so easily." "Don't you even start..." "No Kate, this pub was going to be part of my dreams. And you took that away from me. You're more interested in playing Mother Theresa to those charity cases downstairs than honouring the loyalty you owe me. "I don't owe you anything." "Wrong again Kate. We were close remember; we loved each other or at least I loved you. How easily you forget all that. And you called me heartless!" He carries on with his packing as if this has all been concluded. "How dare you...I loved you; you know that. I risked everything for you; my husband, my family, my business." "All meaningless though! Because when it comes down to it; you'll take whatever you can get. I didn't give you what you wanted to so you found someone else. Someone with a bit more money who fills a designer suit. What is it with you Kate? You're like a little girl who tries to knick her best friend's toy because she think it's better. "What are you talking about?" "Who do you think I'm talking about?" Kate sighs. "Max Samson." "So you don't deny it then Kate?" "No, but Billy...that started long after you and me. I never put him above you." "I saw you two, last night, after you'd turned me down." "Last night?" Kate looks confused then as if it suddenly has dawned on her.. "But Billy, last night..." he shuts the door on her and Kate sighs deeply.
Angel is in her apartment enjoying a family meal. There are lots of laughs and jokes, The Samson's seem to have become close again. The phone goes and Cleo get's it. She's comes back saying it's for Angel. Angel wonders who it is. Cleo says it's a man with a Scottish accent. Everyone jokes that Angel is having an affair with a Scottish toyboy. Angel takes the phone in the other room.
It's Billy on the other line. "Hello Mrs Samson, I've got something to tell you about your husband..."
