The staff of Crossroads Hotel came through the doors of the Hotel and into the reception area. Phil and Nicola were hand in hand and there seemed to be an air of happiness.
"The drinks are on me," Kate said as she made her way over to the bar. Everyone walked over to the bar and the starting of a party was in the air. Joanne looked at the happy crowd and decided not to join them. Instead Joanne headed over to the staff quarters.
Vic made his way over to the office. He opened the door and was shocked to see Diane sitting at his desk.
"Hello Vic" Diane said, smiling.
"What are you doing here?" Vic asked.
"I came back to see you. I thought we could work things out"
"I don't think so Diane. You slept with Jake I can't forgive you for that" Vic said, closing the door.
"So Jake no longer works for you then?"
"That's not the point Diane."
Diane looked surprised at Vic's response. "So he does still work for you? So why can't we make a go of things if you've forgiven him?"
"Because Jake's my son and you were meant to be my partner."
"It was he who seduced me Vic."
"I'm not up to this Diane. There's no chance of us getting back together so just leave"
Diane was angry and she got up and walked over to the door.
"It's that Kate Russell isn't it? She talked you out of sacking Jake and she's poisoned your mind against me"
"Don't be ridiculous Diane its got nothing to do with Kate"
"Nothing to do with her? Every time I get somewhere with the man I want she spoils it for me. I had fond memories with Patrick until she came along and when I started to get somewhere with you she became jealous. It's not like she's never had feelings for you is it?"

Billy was sitting at the edge of the bar area looking annoyed and angry. Everyone around him were celebrating the good news and he was feeling left out. Billy was angry that Kate hadn't even come over to talk to him. She was too busy making sure everyone else was happy and enjoying themselves. Billy then noticed that Nicola was making his way over to him. Billy took a sip of his brandy and then looked up and Nicola stood at the table.
"What do you want Nicola?"
"For you to leave my mother alone" Nicola stated.
"Kate and I are happy Nicola so just accept that will you?"
"Mum and you are happy are you? That's why you're sitting here"
"Go away Nicola I'm not in the mood" Billy said starting to get annoyed.
"There's no way I'm going anywhere Billy. I'm going to make sure that you and mum never stay together" Nicola said in her spiteful determined mood.
"Why do you hate me so much?"
"You killed my father. If it weren't for your affair my father would still be here"
"You were the one who told him Nicola. It was you who killed him not me"
Nicola looked angry and annoyed at Billy. "I'll make sure you never have minute alone with mum. I'll make your live hell Billy until the day you leave"
Nicola turned and rejoined the party. Billy got up and was about to walk away when he saw Kate walking towards him.
"Kate can I have a word?"
"Not now Billy" Kate said looking worried. "Have you seen Joanne?"
"Kate this is important"
"Not now Billy" Kate said more forcefully. Billy sat back down and Kate walked over to Des.
"Des have you seen Joanne?"
"'Er I think she went to her room Mrs. Russell"
"Thank you Des"
Kate headed over to the Staff Quarters. Abby came back with a tray of drinks and handed them to Des and Minty.
"Don't forget you've got your interview tomorrow" Abby said to Des.
"Okay I'll make this my last" Des replied.
"You've got have one more for courage" Minty joked.

Kate knocked on Joanne's door and then came in. Joanne was sitting on her bed crying.
"I'm sorry Mrs. Russell" Joanne said. Kate closed the door and went to comfort Joanne.
"Sorry for what?"
"For not believing you"
"You trusted him. There's nothing wrong with that Joanne"
"But he attacked Nicola, killed Brian and then tried to frame Phil and I stood by him. Everyone else could see through him but me"
"No one blames you Joanne. No thinks ill of you"
"They just think I'm blind. Ray would be having a field day if he were here"
"Ray wouldn't be like that. No one is going to nasty to you Joanne" Kate said doing her best to comfort Joanne.
"How could I have been so stupid? It was there in front of me all the time." Joanne said. "Thanks for your support Mrs. Russell but I can't work here anymore."
"Joanne you don't mean that" Kate said.
"I can't work here anymore. There's too many memories here and I need a new start"
"Where will you go?"
"I don't know. I might go back to Amsterdam"

Back at the bar the party was in full swing.
"You thought his Mother could have turned up," Virginia said.
"Perhaps Julie didn't want to be reminded of what Brian was like" Rocky replied.
"That's right Mum. I wouldn't want to be if I were her" Helen added.
"Or perhaps she doesn't believe that Phil was innocent"
"Virginia!" Rocky replied.

"Please Vic" Diane pleaded. "If you can forgive Jake then why not me?"
"Diane I'm not going through all of this again. I haven't got the time"
"Well we could go out for lunch tomorrow then"
"Diane there is no chance of us just leave" Diane looked at Vic harshly and then turned and went back to the desk.
"Very well" Diane said. She picked up her swipe card to her hotel door. She then walked out of the office and bumped into a returning Kate.
"Diane" Kate said in shock.
"I hope you're happy with your self" Diane snapped. "You've finally got what you wanted. Me out of the way and Vic all to your self" Diane then walked over to the lifts.
Kate watched her leave and then entered the office.
"What did she want?"
"Not now Kate. Are Tracey and Scott and the party?"
"Yes why?"
"I agreed to give them a lift back" Vic left the office and then Kate followed. She looked for Billy but couldn't see him.

Oona and Dave opened the door to the Knock Out Cafe and walked through Oona. They turned on the lights and sat down.
"What a day 'ey" Oona said to Dave. "I always thought that Sam was a bad one"
"Well at least Nicola has regained her memory" Dave added.
"I don't know what Joanne was thinking off" Oona said completely ignoring what Dave had said. "She must have been blind not to see through him. She should have stuck with Ray at least he wasn't a murderer"
"Yes Oona love" Dave replied.
"Dave love go up and let the babysitter go. And then bring down Holly"
Dave went behind the counter and then up the stairs. Oona took off her shoes and started to relax when the door opened and Billy stepped in.
"Oh Billy you gave me a right shock" Oona said. "What do you want at this time of night?"
"I want Holly"
"Well it's too late to have her now. It's nearly her bed time you can have her tomorrow. Take her to the park or something. She'll enjoy that" Oona cheerfully said.
A blond came down from the stairs.
"Night Mrs. Stocks" The babysitter said.
"Goodnight Love. Take care" Oona replied.
The babysitter left the cafe and Dave came down with Holly.
"Oh hello Billy"
"Billy wants to take Holly out to the park tomorrow" Oona said.
"No Oona I want to take Holly to Scotland with me" Billy said. Oona and Dave looked worriedly at each other.
"For a holiday?" Oona said worriedly.
"No I'm moving back up there."
"But she's our grandchild" Oona said. "You can't just take her up to Scotland. What about us?"
"I'm her father."
"And we've been looking after her since Mandy's death" Dave said.
"Mandy would want Holly to be with" Billy replied. "I could gain custody of her if I wanted. Do you really want to be dragged through all that and then loose Holly?"
Oona and Dave looked at each other. "When will we be able to see her?" Oona asked.
"You can come up and see her whenever you want" The chef replied.
Dave and Oona knew what they had to. Dave handed Holly over to Oona while he went up stairs to get her things.
"You know we love you don't you?" Oona said, with tears in her eyes, to the baby Holly. "And we'll be up to see you just as soon as Billy gets settled."
Dave came back down with a bag and handed it to Billy. Oona got up and handed Holly to Dave.
"Bye love. Just you remember we love you" Dave said. Dave then handed Holly over to Billy and he looked at the two grandparents.
"I'll phone you when I get to Scotland" He said. Billy then walked out of the Cafe.
Dave went over to comfort a crying Oona who watched Holly disappear from her sight. The two hugged and then door slammed shut after Billy.

Vic was driving through Kings Oak with Tracey is in the passengers seat and Scott in the back.
"How long did Sam get then?" Scott asked.
"He got ten years Scotty" Tracey replied. "Are you okay Vic?" Tracey asked noticing that he was looking a little tired.
"I'm just tired" He replied.
Vic carried on driving the car and turned a corner in the road, a young woman stepped out in front of him and Vic swirved to miss her he then slammed on the breaks. The car came to a stop having missed the woman. Tracey and Scott were both in shock as they looked out of the windscreen. Tracey then turned to see Vic. He was grapping his chest and finding it hard to breath.
"Vic? Are you okay?" Tracey asked.

"You still haven't explained what made you leave" Kate said talking to Billy in the Cat in the Moon. "Not talking to you at the party couldn't have made you leave"
"No but it was a reason. There were many reasons Kate. Nicola, you ignoring me and what Diane said"
"What Diane said? You mean she talked to you after we had words?"
"No I saw her have a go at you in the reception"
"And?" Kate said still not understanding what Billy was saying.
"What she said about you wanting Vic made sense"
"Billy!" Kate said. "Diane didn't know what she was talking about. She was angry for god sake"
"Vic was Jake's father. Are you honestly saying you didn't have feelings for him? You had more time for him than me. You always had more time for other people than me"
"So that's why you left? Because you were jealous? You've come back because you want us to have another go well there's no way that will ever happen" Kate said furiously. "You left me alone when I needed you most because you were jealous. You left because you just didn't want the trouble. After Vic died I really needed you and that's why we will never have a chance Billy"
"Kate please..."
"No Billy. I'm not interested. Just get out and never come back," Kate said angrily.

In a hotel room Diane was packing her bags. She had fond memories of her time with Vic. She had fond memories of her time with Patrick but the snake that ruined it every time for her was Kate. Diane half wanted to stay and fight for Vic but she knew it would be pointless. Kate had poisoned Vic's mind against her. She picked up her suitcase and looked around one last time. She then left the room and made her way to the reception area. In the Reception area Diane could see the party in full swing. She looked around and thought of her visits to the Hotel when Patrick was still alive. She saw Kate with Nicola and Phil at the party enjoying themselves. She saw Jake chatting up one of the guests.
"Something's never change" Diane said watching him with anger.
